Models were rigid polyvinyl-chloride with a base diameter of 10.5 inches. Parameters examined included thickness, central angle, and toroidal radius. Initial data obtained shows the critical buckling pressure to vary exponentially with thickness and almost linearly with central angle. The buckling pressure was also found to be very sensitive to change in toroidal radius. The use of rigid polyvinyl-chloride as a model material permitted economical fabrication of test bulkheads with very uniform thickness and uniform material properties throughout.
